Letters From Your President/CEO

We have letters from our CEO Susan Vuong to our valued members. Read what she has to say down below!

Letter from CEO

Dear Members,

Since we were established in 1928, you have been our “why” for existing, and each year I like to highlight what your credit union has been up to in the previous year, and give a sneak peek into the year ahead.

New Year, New Branch.   We have officially opened our new branch located at 9233 North Nevada Street, Spokane, WA 99218, next to WinCo.  This new branch has a three-lane drive-up, including a depository ATM in lane one (1), and teller services in lanes two (2) and three (3).  We have friendly faces available to serve you in our bright and welcoming lobby.  We hope you will stop in and check it out.

Celebrations Coming.   On March 15th from 2:00-4:00 PM, we will have an official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Open House. We will offer some light snacks and have a drawing for a gift basket. In late spring, we will have a Grand Opening Event, so be watching for more on that through eNews, email, and social media.

24/7 Digital Branch.  Not only can you transact your business at our Mission or Nevada locations, but you are able to bank wherever and whenever you want with Mobile Banking.   New to the platform in 2023 is our Early Payroll feature, where you can receive your automatic paycheck two days early if you need it (there is a nominal fee for this service). We are excited for more to come on the digital front in 2024, as we will be launching Digital Wallets, using ApplePay and GooglePay on your debit cards in the next few weeks. Credit cards will come shortly thereafter, so be checking our website for more details.  You have asked for these services, and we have listened.

Community Commitment. We were honored to have participated in many important causes and fundraisers in 2023. We always love partnering with the National Association of Letter Carriers # 442 with the annual MDA Bowl-a-thon as well as the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, where this year we are donating 170,000 bags to be provided to residents for food collection.   We also are proud to support organizations like Cancer Can’t, MS Walk, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Tree of Sharing, Children’s Miracle Network and many more great organizations.  This is because we value and care for the community we serve.

Checking with Rewards.   We are rewarding our members who sign up for Kasasa Checking more than ever before!  We have raised the rates on the Kasasa Cash Checking and Kasasa Saver to 5.50% Annual Percentage Yield, effective January 1, 2024 (up to $30,000.00), or if you prefer to receive cash back, the Kasasa Cash Back Checking is paying 5.50% of your debit card purchases (up to $11.00 a month).  To learn how you can earn these great rewards and all the details, click here or contact us today! One of our representatives will help you calculate which option makes more sense for you.

Our goal is to always be your first choice when searching for financial solutions. The Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, Management and Staff of Progressions Credit Union appreciate your membership and the trust you have placed in us as your financial partner.

Sincerely,

Susan Vuong

President and Chief Executive Officer

Your Money Is Safe With Us!

The bottom line: Your money is safe in your credit union!

Dear Valued Member,

With this weekend’s headlines regarding the FDIC placing Silicon Valley Bank and the New York based Signature Bank into receivership, you may have questions about the money you have deposited in your credit union.

Do not worry, your money is safe here. The National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund insures your money, and it is protected up to $250,000 per individual depositor. No member of a credit union has ever lost a penny of insured deposits. Credit Unions really are the safest place for your deposits to be. For more information, or to learn about savvy ways to increase your coverage, visit mycreditunion.gov/share-insurance.

Unlike for-profit financial institutions, your credit union is a not-for-profit cooperative, owned by you and the other members of the credit union.

Some other things that make us unique as a credit union and not as a profit driven bank:

  • Our cooperative, not-for-profit structure inherently holds us accountable to you and to the other members. We do not have stockholders. We do not engage in risky practices to meet stockholders’ profit demands. Our Board of Directors are elected by our members.
  • All decisions about the products and services offered are made in YOUR best interests.
  • Our services are diverse. We are here for Main Street, not Wall Street.
  • We live and work in the communities that we serve, taking local deposits and making local loans.
  • We are healthy, strong, safe, local, and focused on building thriving communities.

Progressions Credit Union exceeds the capital requirements that the financial standards regulators require for a credit union to be considered well capitalized.  What does that mean? It means that your credit union is safe and sound!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us at 509.535.0191.  In addition, if you find yourself in a financial situation, please reach out to us so we can assist you in working towards a solution.  As I mentioned above, we are here to support our members as best we can. After all, we are your road to financial solutions.

Thank you for your membership and continued trust in us.

Sincerely,

Susan Vuong

President and CEO
