NALC/2nd Harvest Food Drive

National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

“The impact of the latest recession has placed a growing number of children, families and seniors at risk of malnutrition. Nearly 14% of Spokane County’s residents now live below the federal poverty level.”

Every year, Progressions Credit Union partners with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and the 2nd Harvest of Spokane for NALC’s Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive. This annual food drive is held on the second Saturday of May, the 10th, and on that one day alone volunteers from across the country go around and collect on average 120 million pounds of food.  All of this is possible because of  the amazing efforts from all of the volunteers.

This year, there is a substantial need for volunteers to help out for this event. Driver/runner teams along with site workers at nine local post offices are needed to fill shifts of 3-4 hours on May 10th. Registration for this event currently is far below needed levels. If you, your friends, family, neighbors or colleagues are available to help, please register in person or online at 2nd Harvest. A big part of what makes food drives so successful is the concept of neighbors helping neighbors.
